1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Apple, we receive:
- Your Apple ID user identifier (a unique, anonymous ID)
- Your name (if you choose to share it)
- Your email address (if you choose to share it — Apple may provide a private relay address)
Profile Information
Information you voluntarily provide:
- Display name and username
- Bio
- Profile avatar selection
Goal & Habit Data
Data you create within the app:
- Goals, habits, and milestones (titles, categories, targets, progress logs)
- Journal entries (text and mood selections)
- Streaks, XP, level, and achievement data
Social Data
When you use social features:
- Friend connections and circle memberships
- Shared goal progress and collaboration logs
- Chat messages and feed posts
- Photos shared in circles or chats
- Likes and comments on posts
Device & Usage Data
- We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or analytics tracking data
- Push notification tokens are stored only for delivering notifications you've opted into
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data exclusively to:
- Provide and operate the Goalie app and its features
- Sync your goals, habits, and social data across your devices
- Enable collaboration on shared goals with friends and circles
- Send push notifications you've opted into (habit reminders, streak alerts)
- Display your profile to friends and circle members
- Process subscription purchases through Apple's App Store
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in two places:
- On your device: Goals, journal entries, and preferences are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework and encrypted by iOS
- In the cloud: Social data (profiles, friends, circles, shared goals, messages) is stored on Supabase servers hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States, protected by Row Level Security policies ensuring you can only access your own data
All data transmitted between your device and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third-party advertisers or data brokers.
Your data is shared only in these limited cases:
- With friends and circle members: Your profile name, level, shared goal progress, feed posts, and chat messages are visible to people you've connected with
- Service providers: We use Supabase (database hosting) and Apple (authentication, payment processing) to operate the app. These providers only access data necessary to provide their services
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of our users
5. Your Choices & Controls
You have control over your data:
- Sharing visibility: Control who sees your goals and journal entries in Profile → Sharing & Visibility
- Push notifications: Enable or disable specific notification types in Profile → Notifications
- Data export: Export your goals and journal entries as CSV files from Profile → Data Management
- Account deletion: Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile → Delete Account. This removes your data from both your device and our servers
6. Contacts
If you grant Goalie access to your contacts, we use this only to help you find friends who also use Goalie. Contact data is read locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.
7. Camera & Photos
If you grant camera or photo library access, it is used only for sharing photos in circle chats and the feed. Photos you share are uploaded to secure cloud storage and are visible only to the intended recipients.
8. Children's Privacy
Goalie is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Subscriptions
Goalie offers Free, Pro, and Lifetime subscription tiers. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information.

11. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, social connections, shared goals, messages, and posts are permanently deleted from our servers. Local data on your device is erased. This process is irreversible.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
